Robert Pruitt is Houston-based artist well known for drawings, videos and installations dedicated to examination of the historical and contemporary experiences of African Americans. Women is an exhibition which includes nearly twenty large-scale conté drawings by Pruitt of black women. Pruitt’s work combines elements of science fiction, hip-hop culture and comic-book graphics to create politically charged, physically grounded and fantastic female figures.
